DET was established in the year 1974 under the founder chairmanship of Late Alhaj Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, He was also president of All India Majlis-e-Ittehad ul Muslimeen. He was a politician from the city of Hyderabad, and served as the Member of Parliament from Hyderabad for six consecutive terms until stepping down in 2004. He was considered to be the most prominent Muslim Leader in Hyderabad and his guidance over the years has been a great source of inspiration.
Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi is President of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and Chairman of Dar-Us-Salam Educational Trust since 2008. He is a Member of Parliament (MP) representing Hyderabad constituency. He was honored with Sansad Ratna Award for overall best performance in 15th Lok Sabha in 2014.
